Polymeric Plastifelt is a waterproofing membrane composed of a high density polyethylene core covered on both sides with polymeric, plasto elasto bitumen based on APP/SBS and other selected polymers, constituting a (triple) continuouse and flexible water proofing layer.

Properties

  • Easy application and adaptability to the roof
  • Plasto elastic
  • Roof movement absorption
  • Flexibility at very low temperature
  • High temperature resistance
  • Practically no ageing

Storage

The rolls must be stored horizontally and parallel (not crossed) and never stacked mroe than 6 rools high. The membranes must always be stored protected against weathering.

Instruction for Use

In general, the usual procedures for continuous water proofing are followed, and application should be carried out by specialized personnel.

Applications

  • Waterproofing of roofs trafficable and non trafficable, both traditional and inverted.
  • Waterproofing of foundations, basements and underground jobs.
  • Waterproofing of swimming pools, tanks, and reservoirs.

Substrate

The substrate receiving the polymeric plastifelt membrane must be firm, dry, clean and free from badly adhered materials. It must also be even and smooth, without any elements that should damage the membrane.

Application of the Membrane

To adhere the membrane to the surface of the substrate three procedures can be used

  • Loose laid
  • Preming with asphaltic paint, and then flame bonding.
  • Hot polymeric bitumer.

Overlaps between membranes are then carred out, with a minimum width of 8 to 10 cm, melting the bitumen with a torch to ensure correct adherence.
The membranes are staggered in sucha away that four membranes are never overlapped at one point.

Substrate

The substrate receiving the polymeric plastifelt membrane must be firm, dry, clean and free from badly adhered materials. It must also be even and smooth, without any elements that should damage the membrane.

Yield

A quality exceeding the surface to be waterproofed of between 12 and 15% is recommended.
Two applications can apply approximately between 100 and 400 m2 per day, depending on the complexity of job to be carred out.
The Added Advantages, when used for Canal Lining Purpose are :

  • Prevention of canal erosion, subsequent elimination of maintenance costs.
  • Reduced power consumption for pumping by way of reduction in friction losses.
  • Elimination of water losses caused by rodents and river carbs.
